An Iconic Wedding Venue
With over 100 years of history, The Midland Hotel is a true Manchester icon and has a reputation for hosting everyone from rock stars to royalty. The Grade II listed 4-star hotel exudes elegance and sophistication and its iconic architecture makes it a stunning wedding venue.
The Midland Hotel first opened its doors in 1903 and was originally built by the Midland Railway to serve passengers for Manchester Central Railway Station. In its first year, the hotel was described as a “twentieth-century place” and quickly became known as one of the finest hotels in the city. The hotel has been witness to many iconic moments over the years. It shares a Beatles connection with Sefton Park Palm House as the four lads from Liverpool were famously refused access to the French Restaurant for being “inappropriately dressed.” Charles Rolls even met Henry Royce in The Midland Hotel, which led to the formation of Rolls Royce.
Experience The Grandeur Of The Midland Hotel
Being from Manchester, The Midland always seemed so grand when I was young. I thought that it was a place that only very rich people could go inside! But now, as a Midland Hotel wedding videographer, I have had the pleasure of working at the venue several times and have seen firsthand how grand it is.
The hotel offers a selection of stunning rooms for each part of your day to take place in. With its Edwardian oak panelling and period fireplaces, The Lancaster Suite is a superbly restored function room that is perfect for intimate ceremonies. The Rolls & Royce suite is a stately setting for smaller weddings and provides a luxurious and intimate space for your ceremony and reception. The Trafford Room is the jewel in the crown of The Midland’s function rooms and can host up to 160 guests. This spacious setting has a grandiose feel to it and sits just outside The Midland Bar, which is a semi-private area for drinks and canapés before the meal.
The Midland’s stately grandeur is a world away from other historic Manchester venues that have a more alternative vibe like Hallé St Peters. It only proves further the huge variety of venues Manchester has to offer!
