A Historical Building
West Tower is a historic country-wedding venue located close to Ormskirk in the heart of Lancashire and Merseyside. With an exterior that resembles a small castle, the venue has managed to retain all of its original charm and character and it’s little wonder that it is now such a popular choice for couples.
The building was first constructed as in 1875 as a family home by Edgar Musgrove. He was a wealthy cotton broker and a big player in Liverpool’s thriving trade industry at the time. Over the years it has seen various uses including being used as a restaurant and hotel until around 2010 when it was purchased by its current owner, Paul Bolton. He decided to undertake extensive refurbishments and alterations in order to transform West Tower into a luxury wedding venue.
From Intimate To Lavish
The venue is now dedicated exclusively to weddings, meaning that all of it’s couples can be sure that their special day will receive the attention it deserves. West Tower’s neutral decor makes it a true blank canvas, allowing its couples to personalise the space and create a unique atmosphere that suits their own individual style and tastes. With its castle-like facade I often think of West Tower as the little brother to Peckforton Castle in Cheshire!
The stunning Dom Perignon bridal suite in the main house overlooks the gardens and surrounding greenery, providing a luxurious space for the bride and her bridesmaids to prepare for the big day ahead. West Tower can cater for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies with the Ballroom providing the perfect setting for indoor ceremonies. Its floor to ceiling windows behind the top table offer a stunning countryside backdrop and is reminiscent of the setup at Mitton Hall. The wooden pagoda on the lawn is a stunning spot for outdoor ceremonies and is popular for those looking to tie the knot in the warmer months.

The venue is surrounded by ten acres of grounds which ensures a peaceful and secluded setting for your wedding. The house and grounds boast beautiful matured trees, a wishing well, and epic views all the way to the Irish Sea on a clear day. The private terrace, which overlooks the beautifully landscaped gardens, is an idyllic setting for drinks and canapés, while the luxury patio seating offers a comfortable spot to relax and take in the views.
Guests can also enjoy canapés on the lawn or gather in the Cellar bar which is a cozy indoor setting for drinks. Its then back to the Ballroom for the wedding breakfast and evening party, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with daylight whilst revealing acres of rolling countryside outside.
West Tower offers a range of accommodation options for guests who wish to stay overnight. The Stables, which are the latest addition to the venue, offer nine double bedrooms for you and your guest and there are also two quaint cottages in the grounds, Oak and Beech, which truly are a home away from home! If you’re looking for a castle-like wedding venue that offers beauty and history in every direction, West Tower really is the perfect place to say “I do”.
