Awe-Inspiring Architecture
Hallé St Peters is a grade II listed former church and is a venue to impress. Located in the heart of the resurgent area of Ancoats, it is perhaps best known as the home for the Hallé orchestra but it is now also one of the coolest city centre venues in Manchester.
St. Peters was built in 1859 amongst the bustling industrial suburb of Ancoats as an Anglican Church. It has a strong musical past and before its restoration was a small live music venue, playing orchestras from all over the world. Its current inhabitant, The Hallé, is Manchester’s symphony orchestra and ranks among the UK’s top symphonic ensembles.
The Hidden Gem of Ancoats – Hallé St Peters
The building features stunning brick and narrow iron beams creating a light and spacious atmosphere. After lying dormant for years, restoration work began in 1998 when a major multi-million pound grant was secured from the Lottery Fund. Today, the building is a beautifully restored venue that can cater to a variety of events and has recently opened its doors as a wedding venue.
The venue is a versatile space that can hold up to 250 guests. The unique original features of the building, including the high ceilings, beautiful stain glass windows, gorgeous oak floor and amazing acoustics, create an unforgettable setting for a wedding ceremony or reception. It has a similar vibe to the nearby Gorton Monastery which is another spectacular Manchester wedding venue.

Hallé St Peters also has a sister venue, Hallé at St Michaels, which offers additional event space for couples who are looking to expand their wedding across multiple locations. It is also just a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of the Northern Quarter, which is one of Manchester’s most popular quirky neighbourhoods. We really aren’t short on choice at this venue for portrait backdrops!
The venue is conveniently located within walking distance to Manchester City centre, which has a number of other unique venues on offer including the iconic Manchester Art Gallery. There are tons of nearby hotels that are dotted across the city centre providing plenty of options for guests who are traveling from out of town. The venue also has an incredible team of staff who are dedicated to making every event the best it can possibly be.
Hallé St Peters is a unique and magical space that is perfect for couples looking for an urban yet historic setting for their wedding. I love the juxtaposition of the brand-new Ancoats backdrop against the historic Hallé St Peters, and it only adds to this venue’s charm and character!
