Countryside Luxury At Colshaw Hall
Colshaw Hall is an exclusive country manor house located in Over Peover in the heart of Cheshire. Set in 300 acres of rolling countryside, it is the sister venue to the nearby Merrydale Manor and is owned by the Irlam family. Its a Grade II listed building which speaks to its architectural significance.
Constructed in 1903 by the Chester architects Douglas and Minshull, Colshaw Hall was first built as a home for the Peel family. Today, the venue is run as a family business and provides a glamorous setting for luxury Cheshire weddings. Being only a short drive away from Wilmslow, Manchester, and Macclesfield, it is perfectly located to offer a peaceful countryside escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
One of the North West’s Most In-Demand Wedding Venues
As you enter the estate and venture down the long drive, you will be instantly struck by the grandeur of Colshaw Hall and its surroundings. Its grounds include many beautiful manicured gardens including the Magnolia Garden, the Walled Garden, and the Japanese Gardens. Each of these spots not only provide a stunning backdrop but they are also a great option for outdoor ceremonies!
Colshaw Hall offers a range of options for morning prep spaces, ceremonies and receptions. The Stables is where most of Colshaw’s ceremonies take place. With lead windows, oak beams, and marble flooring, it provides a stunning setting for saying “I do”. Your guests will be directed to The Stables via a short walk past a tranquil lake. Once everyone is inside and has taken their seats, the bridal party will arrive in style outside on Colshaw’s golf buggies! This will then shortly be followed by a grand isle entrance.

The Peel Suite is a large modern space that hosts wedding breakfasts and evening parties at Colshaw. It is a spectacular room with brilliant lighting! The brand new Makeup Lounge was built in 2020 and is a pretty special place for the bridal party to make their final preparations. It’s a beautiful room with hand-painted wallpaper and bespoke fittings. The Den is the perfect space for groom prep. With table tennis, arcade games, and a TV, it provides a great setting for the groomsmen to relax before the ceremony. The juxtaposition of the old and new architecture reminds me a little of the nearby Dorfold Hall!
The four luxurious Courtyard Cottages provide beautiful accommodation for Colshaw’s guests and were recently refurbished in 2019. The cottages offer a contemporary and cosy feel, providing a home-away-from-home experience for those who stay. The venue is extremely well run and the team are a lovely bunch. No Colshaw Hall wedding would also be complete without a red-coated master of ceremonies. They have a vast knowledge of the venue and are always on hand to ensure the day runs to schedule!
Colshaw Hall is one of the most glamorous and luxurious venues in the county and one of my favourite Cheshire spots. It always books up fast so be sure to check their availability for your date here!
